Relation of Adrenal Androgen to Insulin Levels
Elizabeth Barrett-Connor

IN RESPONSE:
We thank Dr. Nestler for his comments. We are, of course, aware of his interesting work on the relation between insulin and DHEA-sulfate levels. He suggests that we study the change in adrenal androgens in the newly treated patients with diabetes in our cohort. The study Dr. Nestler proposes could be done in a controlled fashion in a clinical setting. However, we do not treat the participants in the Rancho Bernardo study; it is an observational study only.
